Editable Starter biome settings
Core/Art contains the source models, textures, materials, prefabs and reference biome settings for Forest, Tropical, Snow and Autumn. The optional Starter contains independent settings for those four biomes under Assets/SorolifMapGenerationStarter/Examples/QuickStart.
Run Tools > Sorolif > Map Generation > Create Starter Biome Assets to create missing editable settings from Core, even without the example archive. Existing settings are preserved exactly. The command does not regenerate visual assets or create project layers.
Select and customize
Choose Biome, then Biome preset. The available Starter setting is preferred over the shared Core reference; an explicitly selected compatible custom preset is preserved. Select biome preset to edit opens the chosen asset. Direct MapDefinition material and prefab overrides remain authoritative.
Each Starter setting has its own serialized rules, percentages and references. Change a probability, assign a different prefab or material, or add rules without modifying the corresponding Core setting. Other enum values remain available for custom BiomeSetting assets.
| Biome |
Shared visual starting point |
| Forest |
Green ground, brown forest dirt, woodland props and vivid water with waves and fish silhouettes |
| Tropical |
Bright vegetation, sandy paths and turquoise water |
| Snow |
Pale ground, snow-covered trees, cold currents and coastal ice |
| Autumn |
Copper foliage, woodland ground and drifting bank leaves |
Shared artwork
The initial references point to Core/Art. Models, meshes and textures stay shared. To customize a material's values, duplicate that material into your project and assign the copy. To customize a model prefab, create a project-owned variant. Editing an Art source itself changes Core content; assigning a replacement in a Starter setting does not.
Core updates preserve Starter setting files, while updating shared Art when included in the update. Explicitly reimporting Starter can replace selected Starter files. See Starter installation and ownership.
Image-import material channels
Starter image palettes map Grass_, DirtForest_, DirtPath_, Water_ (seabed) and Env_ (rock) to their terrain material channels. An explicit layer material overrides the biome material. The supplied palette and source image are demonstration assets inside Examples.
