Supplied model prefabs
English | Français
The examples demonstrate placing configured prefabs automatically. The generator does not rebuild or repair imported models.
From model to generated object
- Keep the FBX in
Art/Biomes/<Biome>/Meshes and its textures in Textures.
- Create a prefab with the linked FBX as its visual child. Assign its material and set any offset or scale on the prefab. Add colliders to the root when needed.
- Reference the prefab in
BiomeSetting.configs, with a surface prefix and probability. MapPropVariants chooses between complete models with the map seed.
- Select the biome preset and generate.
MapPropsGenerator places the configured prefabs.
Visual MeshFilters point directly to meshes inside the source FBX. There are no Prepared, Generated or detail mesh copies. Reimporting a model updates its geometry. Geometry, UV and scale issues should be corrected in the authoring tool.
Open a prefab to see its linked model. Its MeshFilter mesh locates the FBX. The MapPropVariants Inspector also provides Source FBX files buttons. No source-tracking component is required.
Placement and storage
The Snow, Tropical and Autumn model and Starter presets demonstrate trees and small decorations. See Snow models and props placement. Existing probabilities, base-grass filling passes, materials and collider settings remain configured in the presets and prefabs.
Autumn includes five trees in two seeded groups (forest rules 80/50), two bushes
(combined 3% rule), flowers/berry variants (1.5%), branches/stumps (4%), two rocks
(4%), fallen leaves (4%) and mushrooms (1.5%). Decorations populate Grass and
Plateau; paths use only the small rock at 2%. Forest can receive fallen leaves
at 4%. The existing two-pass base grass remains separate. Tree roots keep
their aligned colliders; vegetation uses the shared wind material and rocks/
dead branches use the shared static atlas material. All visuals reference their
FBX meshes directly, including the four alternatives inside the berry FBX.
A tree prefab has a physical root and one linked visual model. World-object rotation affects the visual branch while the root collider stays aligned with the grid. Inline alternatives keep their shared root; external palettes instantiate the selected prefab directly.
MapDataContainer packs prefab instances for disk storage. GPU instancing runs during Play Mode only. Edit Mode keeps ordinary visible objects and active colliders. Geometry and materials remain shared assets.
Bridges display their source FBX, with a Walkable deck and Environment side barriers. They remain excluded from GPU instancing. Three small separate meshes describe arched deck collision surfaces and contain no visual model copies. Prepare Biome Bridges creates missing bridge prefabs and necessary collision geometry while preserving authored prefabs.
Source model corrections
The corrected Snow birch is included in Snow_BareTrees. Correct geometry, UV or scale issues in the source FBX; no substitute geometry is generated.
Forest models
Art/Biomes/Forest/BiomeForestModels.asset and Starter Forest use all fifteen
non-bridge FBX models: five trees and ten decorations. The three existing bridges
remain connected. Each model has a prefab under Forest/Prefabs/Trees or
Forest/Prefabs/Details, with its linked FBX and the shared atlas materials.
Two tree palettes populate DirtForest at 80/50: oak/young tree, then birches/dead
tree. Grass and Plateau receive grass clumps at 6%, bushes at 3%, plants/ferns at
1.5%, branches at 4%, rocks at 4% and mushrooms at 1.5%. DirtPath only receives
small rocks at 2%. The four existing base-grass rules are preserved. Imported
grass clumps are decoration, separate from the base-grass system.
New prefab roots, model-placement rules and importers use scale 1. The publisher
confirmed the correction of Biome_Forest_Tree_Birch1_Textured.fbx on 6 November
2026; the earlier transform warning is resolved. Correct source models in the
authoring tool while preserving their dimensions and linked prefab references.
The large fern measures 3.35 × 1.84 × 3.23 units; check that this size is intended.
